Taylor Swift Fans Want Her to Give a Particular Eras Tour Outfit ‘a Break’ After Noticing It ‘Literally Shedding’

Fans are calling for Taylor Swift to give one particular Eras Tour outfit ‘a break’ after they spotted signs that it was ‘literally shedding.’ Above, Swift performs at Friends Arena on May 17, 2024 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Some of Taylor Swift’s fans are worried that one of her beloved Eras Tour outfits might be reaching a breaking point after they spotted what appeared to be a sign of it “literally shedding” while she was onstage.

A photo captured during Swift’s Friday, May 24 show at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, provided a close-up view of the bodysuit that Swift wears during the Reputation portion of her performance. While the “Anti-Hero” singer has added and subtracted outfits to her shows several times since her tour kicked off in March 2023, the Reputation outfit known by fans as the red and black “snake bodysuit” has remained a constant.

In the recent photo, Swift held her arms outstretched mid-performance. While most of the outfit’s black and red sequins appeared to be intact, two lines of material under her right arm appeared to be missing detailing. Fans online began to suggest the red sequins were “shedding,” a reference to the bodysuit’s snake theme.

A couple of Swift fan accounts on X, formerly Twitter, shared screenshots of the photo in question on social media. One account that has closely followed Swift’s Eras Tour tweeted that the outfit was “BREAKING” and worried, “like it’s literally shedding miss girl is overworked.” Another fan account also suggested on X that the outfit was “shedding.”

Some fans who commented on the photos urged the “Cruel Summer” songstress to protect the bodysuit by swapping it out of her current rotation of onstage outfits.

“Please give a break to this outfit. It has seen enough,” one fan wrote as another agreed, writing, “it’s over taylor, we need a new one!”

“It could break in half and she still wouldn’t give us a new outfit,” another fan joked.

Others suggested it was possible that the bodysuit was missing sequins on purpose.

“It looks like maybe it was made that way to protect her arm from getting scratched up,” one fan tweeted as another said the sequins might have been removed to prevent the bodysuit’s “mesh from ripping again.”

One X user said they thought the bodysuit actually had tulle added to the lines of material in question “so that the sleeve doesn't catch on them when her arm is at her side.”

Some Swifties thought it likely that the bodysuit was adjusted intentionally, though they offered an entirely different theory about the change. Swift has been known to plant clues about her upcoming projects in her performances, a tendency that fueled fan speculation online.

“What if she announces Rep TV after the entire outfit has shedded?” one fan wondered, referencing a possible re-recorded version of Swift’s 2017 album Reputation. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the re-recorded album, which would arrive as the fifth of its kind if Swift does take it on next.

Several fans agreed with the theory, with one writing that the bodysuit was “shedding because its getting ready for its new skin rep tv.” Another predicted that Swift would announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) once her bodysuit “finishes molting.”
