Taylor Sheridan Paramount+ Series ‘Landman’ Casts Michael Peña (EXCLUSIVE)

Michael Peña has joined Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ series “Landman,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Peña joins previously announced series lead Billy Bob Thornton in the show, as well as cast members Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, and Demi Moore. Jon Hamm will appear in a recurring guest star role, while Andy Garcia will guest star.

The series is based on the 11-part “Boomtown” podcast and is set in the world of West Texas oil rigs, focusing on both those working in the oil fields and the billionaires reaping the rewards. It is currently in production in and around Fort Worth.

Peña most recently starred in the biopic “A Million Miles Away,” which told the true story of NASA astronaut José Hernández. Peña is also known for his roles in films like “Ant-Man” and subsequent sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” as well as “American Hustle,” “Shooter,” “Crash,” “World Trade Center,” and “Fury.” He has also starred in television shows like “Narcos: Mexico,” “Jack Ryan,” and “The Shield.”

He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, and SGSBC.

Sheridan co-created “Landman” with Christian Wallace. Both serve as executive producers along with David C. Glasser, ​David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay. Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch for Imperative Development LLC, and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly also executive produce. Peter Feldman serves as co-executive producer. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
