A taste of summer for Bucks County on Monday, April 29, but showers on the way for Tuesday

Bucks County will enjoy a brief taste of summer on Monday, April 29, as temperatures approach all-time highs, but the sun and warmth will be short-lived, as a rain system is expected to come through late Tuesday that could run into Wednesday.

If you’re getting ready to head out for the day or just want to know what to expect, here’s a look at the forecast from the National Weather Service.

What’s the weather in Bucks County?

Monday will be mostly sunny, with highs near 89 degrees, said Alex Dodd, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"We will have hot weather today and possibly Tuesday, although a backdoor front will be dipping in from the northeast tonight and Tuesday morning, which may cool temperatures," Dodd said. "That leads to a tricky forecast for Tuesday, when there will be low clouds in the morning, making it a little rougher to get into the upper 80s."

According to the weather service's post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, temperatures reached the all-time high of 90 degrees on this date in 1974 and 1988.

The weather service also noted Monday's summer-like conditions in its morning forecast alert on X.

"Some unusually early, summer-like warmth will arrive for Monday with forecast high temperatures well into the mid to upper 80s," read a portion of the weather service's alert. "In fact, a few record highs could be challenged."

Bucks County forecast

Rain may move in Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast for Bucks County. The day will start off with a round of patchy fog, but there may be some breaks of sun as well.

"Overall, Tuesday is looking like a nice day, although there will be a trough coming through in the afternoon," Dodd said. "With that, we're looking at a chance of showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon. We will probably see some decent showers and thunderstorms over eastern Pennsylvania in the afternoon hours on Tuesday, but they will weaken as they come through."

Temperatures should still reach the low 80s Tuesday.

Dodd said rain may linger into Wednesday.

"It will be a cloudier day for the most part on Wednesday, and definitely a little cooler," Dodd said. "Temperatures will only get to the mid 70s on Wednesday."

Sunshine is expected to return on Thursday, driving temperatures back up to nearly 80.
