Tarrant Area Food Bank West cancels Thursday holiday mobile event due to extreme weather
Because of extreme cold in North Texas, Tarrant Area Food Bank West has canceled its distribution event scheduled at Weatherford High School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth says subfreezing temperatures and strong winds Thursday night into Friday morning will make for dangerously cold wind chills, as low as -15 degrees, which could result in hypothermia.

“So sad to cancel!” wrote one commenter after the food bank made the announcement on Facebook. Another commenter wrote that her co-worker’s husband lost his job and she was taking her to the event for a holiday ham.
To accommodate families who need food this evening, the TAFB West Mission Market at 112 Winners Circle in Weatherford will be open until 7 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. At the market, individuals can shop for the groceries they need free of charge. TAFB says there will be foods for a holiday meal, and there is no paperwork to bring or other requirements.
