Taron Egerton has weighed in on the story behind the most addictive game ever.

The Kingsman star leads Apple TV+ movie Tetris, chronicling how the race to distribute the block-stacking game came about.

Also featuring Toby Jones, the film from director Jon S Baird and writer Noah Pink premiered at SXSW earlier this month and will debut on the streamer on March 31.

Egerton plays Henk Rogers, the Dutch video game designer who attempted to secure the distribution rights to Tetris in the 1980s. It was no easy feat, especially with so many other big players interested in getting their hands on this money-making, hot commodity.

"It's an extraordinary story involving lots of different factions from all over the world, all pursuing this incredibly property," Egerton said in a new video exclusive to Digital Spy.

Egerton's character Henk teams up with the Soviet software engineer who designed the puzzle in 1984, Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Yefremov). The two go on to found The Tetris Company in the 1990s, with Rogers still managing it today alongside his daughter Maya Rogers serving as CEO.

"My dad put everything on the line to chase after this game," Maya Rogers, whose younger version appears on the show, explained.

"Most people have no idea the drama the game went through for it to spread to the rest of the world."

"Tetris is a cultural zeitgeist and it's quite exciting to think that the backstory to this phenomenon will finally get its moment in the sunlight," Egerton continued.

Egerton will also be seen opposite Ozark's Jason Bateman in Netflix thriller Carry-On. The actor plays a young TSA officer blackmailed by Bateman's mysterious character into slipping a dangerous package onto a Christmas Day flight.

Tetris will become available to stream on Apple TV+ on March 31.
