Mosaic: Tacoma’s Art and Culture Festival is back at Wright Park.

The event, formerly known as Ethnic Fest, will feature music and food representing the many cultures in Tacoma. Park board president Andrea Smith said the event gives people a chance to learn about the cultures that make up the city and the world.

“It’s the best way to learn about all the amazing places in our world, and the people who bring those cultures to make our city life so rich,” Smith said in a news release.

The festival will take place at Wright Park on July 23-24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

People also can visit the event’s 20 arts-and-crafts booths. People also will have access to information and vendor booths from community groups and services.

Performers include Chamorro dancers and the Mariachi Monarcas. Stage lineups have been placed on the event website. Asian Pacific Cultural Center executive director Lua Pritchard said performances are intended to carry energy from the stage to the crowd.

“I want people to move with what’s on stage, to dance, to be uplifted. I have been with this festival since the very first one, and I know what people like,” Pritchard said in the news release.

In partnership with The Grand Cinema, the festival will screen the movie “Selena” on July 23 at dusk for an outdoor movie.

The festival will start with a “Walk of Destiny” parade around Wright Park at 11 a.m. on July 23.

According to the news release, the Mosaic is being presented by Regence BlueShield, with partnership from Bath Fitter NW and Washington’s Lottery.
