Tacoma crime is out of control, so why are WA state leaders silent? Could it be guilt?

Where’s the leadership from state leaders on crime?

Am I the only one pondering why our elected officials, at the state level, have been so silent regarding what is going on in Tacoma? The rise in crime on every level in our city seems to be something they should be addressing, rather than remaining silent and doing nothing.

I am wondering if they were behind the sweeping police reform legislation a while back, and are now feeling somewhat guilty, seeing how well those changes have worked out.

Officials, please step up and do what you were elected to do: Take care of your citizens.

Our elected officials at the City level don’t seem to be able to rectify this problem. Why aren’t you all stepping up to help?

Crisis at the southern border

Matt Driscoll’s recent column on Ron DeSantis sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard woefully misses the point. The only news outlets that accurately describe the illegal migrant situation at the southern border are the conservative outlets such as Fox news. The liberal media follows the Biden party line that the border is secure and that illegal immigration is not a serious problem.

This is a lie.

The federal border patrol and state law enforcement on the border are overwhelmed by the constant illegal crossings. The political move from Texas, Florida and Arizona to ship a few of these illegal migrants to blue state sanctuary cities is meant to highlight the border problem and get the liberal media to talk about it — and get the Biden administration to do something to better control it.

This is not cruel nor sadistic. The migrants are being taken care of at the destination point. What is cruel and sadistic is what the Biden administration encourages with its open border policies. These policies result in the death and suffering of migrants and the death and suffering of U.S. residents because of increased drug and bad actor crossings at the border.

The liberal media should stop whining and recognize the magnitude of the border crisis.

Red wave? Maybe not

Want to know why, despite what historically happens during mid-term elections, huge gains for the opposition party might not happen this year? Just read the headlines in Friday’s News Tribune.

Democratic President Joe Biden averted a potential railroad strike that would have had devastating effects on our tenuous economy with his ability to find consensus and compromise.

Democratic Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson won a huge lawsuit against drug companies due to their role in contributing to the opioid epidemic that will aid Pierce County with $14 million to deal with the crisis.

And then there is the showboat sideshow of Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, tricking unexpecting immigrants from Texas and flying them to Massachusetts as a type of joke.

Kind of says it all, doesn’t it?
