Taco Bell running out of ingredients, facing food shortage

If you want to head south of the border, you better act fast.

Taco Bell is facing a food shortage and running out of certain ingredients, leading the company to warn customers that some menu items may not be available.

Anecdotal evidence, in the form of social media posts, presents shortages of a number of ingredients, including chicken, beef, tortillas, tomatoes, lettuce and both hot and mild sauces.

Employees at the restaurant chains many locations have also reported incomplete, late or missed supply deliveries, which have led to restaurants closer earlier than usual, with little to no notice for customers.

For its part, the company apologized for the situation.

“Sorry if we can’t feed your current crave,” ran announcement on Taco Bell’s website read. “Due to national ingredient shortages and delivery delays, we may be out of some items.”

The company did not offer specifics regarding which ingredients were in short supply or which menu items were not available.

The food shortage is the latest set back for the fast food chain. In 2020, fans were outraged after 13 popular menu items, including the Mexican Pizza, Quesarito and Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, were discontinued.
