Nominations for the Telegram & Gazette's latest Student of the Week are in. Now it's time for you to pick the best of the best.

Voting is open until noon Thursday. There are eight nominees this week.

Participating high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors nominated students they say have shown outstanding academic and school achievement and community service.

We will announce the winner on Friday. Scroll down to vote.

The nominees for the week of Feb. 5 are:

Amrit Boyal, Claremont Academy, Worcester: Amrit is a stellar student all around and often does not get recognized because everyone already knows she does well. Academically, Amrit, a junior, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence. Her grades reflect not only a strong mastery of the curriculum but also a genuine intellectual curiosity that extends beyond the classroom. Amrit consistently goes above and beyond in research projects, assignments and class discussions, showcasing a deep understanding of concepts and topics. Amrit is our top scorer on MCAS with almost a perfect score on both English and math. She is able to balance challenging coursework while involved in math club and student council activities after school. She is not just a high-achieving student, but also someone who inspires and supports their peers.

Mairead Frisch, Clinton High School: Mairead, a senior, continues to exceed expectations as a student in the child development program. Her dedication, commitment and genuine interest in child development and working with young children is unparalleled. The preschool students light up when she enters the classroom, they all know her by name and greet her with smiles, hugs and excitement that she is "back," as they say. In the academic setting she is inquisitive and reflective. She puts forth her best effort in assignments. In the practicum setting she is caring, engaging and reflective.

Cameron Hett, Millbury Memorial Junior-Senior High School: Cam, a senior, is an amazingly positive student who works hard and always tries his best. He always has a smile on his face and has kind words for anyone needing to be picked up. Cameron is an active member of our unified sports programming and Best Buddies club. Cam is a role model student and exemplifies Woolie Pride.

Scott Krug, West Boylston Middle-High School: Scott, a senior, has worked conscientiously throughout the year and has not missed one assignment. He has integrity and a strong work ethic. He has created very vivid stories and poetry, and his portfolio for the final exam in creative writing was outstanding. This year he has also written flawless essays, essays that are college-level. He is respectful, responsible, and honestly emanates the vision of a graduate. He is an excellent student and has shown true character.

Kaius Monson, Oxford High School: Beyond Kaius' grades, which are top-notch across the board, his character stands out. He is quiet and reserved, but will step up to help anyone out. Kaius, a sophomore, is one student who stays after almost every day and tutors and mentors different students, just to help them out and boost their grades.

Tori Rich, Burncoat High School: Tori, a senior, has dedicated herself to making a difference in the world. She is a statewide leader in the Project 351 program, which does service projects to make a difference in the community. She is a Celtics Playbook Initiative trainer in which she partners with schools to create workshops at which students learn about inequities and injustices in the world. Tori also created her own charity, Project Venus, dedicated to advocacy and women's rights. Tori has done all this while achieving incredible grades, and being a part of three honor societies.

Jared Roman, Worcester Technical High School: Jared, a senior, exemplifies our values in our shop. His peers are most important to him and he often will lend a hand to a teacher, support a student who may be struggling and will do whatever is needed in our shop – from trash duty to being one of our strongest senior assistants.

Julian Ruiz Rosade, Abby Kelley Foster High School: Julian is recognized for his academic achievement and his strength of character. Julian is able to successfully juggle many responsibilities and is consistently the first to volunteer if anyone needs assistance. He is a reliable and consistent supporter of athletic teams when he is not himself "in season." His dependability and genuine respect for others strengthen the values, culture and safety of his school community.
