‘I can’t even believe it.’ Moose falls through window into basement, Alaska photos show
A moose fell through a window and became trapped in a basement in Alaska, photos show.
Firefighters responded to a home in Soldotna to rescue the young moose, Soldotna Professional Firefighters said in a Sunday, Nov. 20 Facebook post.
Seven firefighters, plus three biologists and two wildlife troopers, took part in the rescue, the Anchorage Daily News reported. “I can’t even believe it,” firefighter Gunnar Romatz said.
The animal was sedated and carried up a set of stairs, into a garage and outside, the news outlet reported. The biologists treated the moose for minor injuries.
Photos show the animal outside after the rescue, headed toward the woods.
And it’s not the first time a moose has ended up in a place it didn’t belong.
A moose fell through a snow-covered window in Colorado in January, McClatchy News previously reported.
That animal had to be tranquilized and removed from the home.
Soldotna is in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, about 150 miles by road southwest of Anchorage.
