The little black dress, one of fashion’s oldest and most beloved staples, has been enjoying a revival for the past couple years—and in case anyone had forgotten, Sydney Sweeney just reminded us why the LBD is here to stay.
While doing press in New York City for her upcoming horror film, Immaculate, the actor stepped out in three different versions of the little black dress, proving it can still be the most interesting outfit choice.
The first look included a structured long-sleeved mini from Versace’s Spring 2024 collection. The dress has an exaggerated hourglass silhouette with elevated shoulder pads and a nipped waist. A silver zipper runs down the middle, from the neckline to the hemline, while elegant pockets sit at the hips. Styled by Molly Dickson, Sweeney wore the dress with transparent black tights from Calzedonia, glossy black pumps, a black leather Versace handbag, and cat-eye sunglasses. She broke up the monochrome with some gold and diamond jewelry, including small hoop earrings and rings.
Sweeney’s next fit included a fabulous creation from Khaite, which was part biker chick, part retro. It was a ribbed knit wool and leather midi dress from the brand’s Spring 2024 collection, which features a sleeveless leather mock-neck top, a knit drop waist cinched with silver buttons—à la 1940s style—and an ample leather poplin skirt.
The Euphoria star gave the outfit even more edge with a pair of pointy black leather boots with a silver stiletto heel and buckles all over, plus a black croc-embossed clutch and rectangular shades. She kept her same jewelry.
Sweeney wrapped up her day with a red-carpet appearance and live taping of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. To discuss her film journey—particularly her decision to jump from cheesy rom-com Anyone but You to bloody horror flick Immaculate—at the event, Sweeney opted for a look that hinted at her onscreen personas in both films. The main piece was a little black dress in a stretchy fabric with a transparent floral lace cutout at the waist embellished with black gems, and a tutu-esque skirt with three layers of silky ruffles. Sweeney wore the LBD with a Matrix-like black coat with a slight sheen, transparent black Calzedonia tights, and pointy black heels with an ankle strap. For this look, she opted for elongated black sunglasses that made her look like a spy undercover, plus her same jewelry.
Adding to the chicness of all her looks was Sweeney’s rosy makeup and new, choppy blonde bob.
