Sweet Magnolias: Burning Questions We Need Answered in Potential Season 4

Sweet Magnolias‘ third season has only been streaming for about a week, but we’re already taking stock of our hopes for Season 4 — the first of which being that Netflix actually renews it. That one’s pretty important.

Aside from that, we just want what’s best for the good people of Serenity. And after obsessing over their friendships, romances and jobs for three seasons, we consider ourselves authorities on what’s best for them. We’re total Maddies like that.

Unlike previous seasons, Sweet Magnolias didn’t leave us on any major cliffhangers this time around — there was nary a car crash nor dramatic proposal to speak of — making the possibilities pretty endless. That said, there are certain things we all probably want, like Helen and Erik getting back together for good, and plenty of others that none of us want, like Ryan showing his rat face in Serenity ever again.

And not to brag or anything, but our wishes have a pretty good track record of coming true. We wished for a Christmas episode of Virgin River back in 2022, and what did Netflix announce earlier this week? That’s right, two holiday episodes. Honestly, we scare ourselves sometimes.

Grade Sweet Magnolias‘ third season in our poll below, then read on for our personal hopes for a potential Season 4. When you’re done, drop a comment with your own must’s and must-not’s.

Will Helen and Erik give their relationship another shot?

Will Helen and Erik give their relationship another shot?

Helen is obviously ready, willing and able to pick back up where she left off with Erik. Unfortunately, he’s moved on — and deservedly so, considering the way she basically tossed him aside for that garbage human Ryan.

Will Maddie and Cal get engaged?

Will Maddie and Cal get engaged?

Everybody loves a TV wedding, and while Dana Sue and Ronnie’s big day was certainly one for the books, it was more of a vow renewal ceremony. And even though Maddie didn’t catch the bouquet, something tells us she’ll have a ring on that finger by the end of the season.

Will Ty and Annie finally get together?

Will Ty and Annie finally get together?

We know things move slowly in Serenity, but these kids have spent three seasons dancing around their feelings for one another, and it’s about time they finally give it a go. That hand-holding at the wedding was certainly hopeful, and we’d love to see how Maddie and Dana Sue would handle that relationship.

We understand that Isaac is only beginning to forge a relationship with his father, but it’s wild (with a capital “W!”) to think that Ty and Kyle are walking around completely unaware of their own familial connection. Never mind the fact that Noreen doesn’t know Isaac is related to her baby.

Speaking of Noreen, we’re definitely feeling the love between her and Jeremy. The hot farmer may not have been endgame with Dana Sue, but something about him finding love with Noreen just feels right.

Is Bill really gone for good?

Is Bill really gone for good?

Bill’s goodbye to Maddie at the wedding felt a little heavier than most of their interactions, like he . In this instance, two things can be true: First, Bill is an absolute disaster magnet, and his depressing antics aren’t all that entertaining. Also, he has five children with three different women in Serenity, and it would be irresponsible of him to abandon

Can Ryan be gone for good?

Can Ryan be gone for good?

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice? Nope, not going to happen. Like Helen, we… are… DONE… with Ryan Wingate’s shenanigans. He’s a selfish man-child who brings misery everywhere he goes, and he needs to stay far away from Serenity forever and ever.
