Sweet Horse Keeps Trying To Steal Newborn Lamb and Become Its Mama

A horse in Canada has decided that she wants to adopt a little black lamb, despite how the lamb's mama feels about it.

One of the sadder aspects of this video? The horse is also almost twenty years old and blind in one eye. She just has a lot of love to give!

The sweet video was shared by the TikTok account for @Meditating_farmgirl and the description reads, "Gemini had her babies this morning and our horse seems to think the little black lamb is hers and keeps trying to steal it."

TikTok users love this sweet wannabee mama and one person commented, "Maternal instincts are strong with that one!" Another person said, "so much cuteness that lamb gonna have two mamas." To which the video creator replied, "I had to separate them. My mama sheep was not impressed with the horse following them everywhere. I think my horse needs her own baby." Awwww! Another person added, "She's just trying to co-parent." The horse owner responded, "Co-parenting without the other parent. She was definitely trying to steer the baby away. She’s chilled out a little now but still stays close."

Awwwww. She loves the little lamb so much!

Do Horses Like Other Animals?

Horses are herd animals and enjoy the company of other horses, but they can also bond with other species of animals.

According to the RSPCA, "A horse will ‘bond’ with another type of animal if that is all that is available. Horses will bond with many other types of animal if another horse is not available. In a stabled situation horses have even been known to bond with a chicken or a cat, but another horse is by far and away the best companion. Different types of animals behave in different ways which does not usually fulfill each of the animal’s needs. For example sheep and cows are ruminant animals which means that they eat more quickly than a horse and then spend more time laying down ruminating, whereas horses spend longer grazing and digest their food whilst grazing."

Here's a horse in California who is playing with his companion which is a barn cat.

It makes sense why this horse wants to spend time with the little lamb then! But I can totally understand why her mama isn't willing to just let her go.
