Suspect arrested after 4 people were shot and killed in Ohio, officials say

A manhunt ended Saturday when police arrested an Ohio man in connection with the shooting deaths of four people who ranged in age from 15 to 82, according to authorities.

Stephen Marlow, 39, was arrested by local police in Lawrence, Kansas, late Saturday, a day after the four victims were found dead at multiple crime scenes in Butler Township in Montgomery County, Ohio, officials said.

The suspect was said to have fled after opening fire, with the Butler Township Police Department warning Friday that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

“We are working to determine if there is any motive to this horrible tragedy or if mental illness played any role,” Chief John Porter said.

Clyde Knox, 82, Eva Knox, 78 and Sarah Anderson, 41, were identified by officials on Saturday as victims who were fatally wounded, while the 15-year-old who died is not being publicly identified.

Marlow is set to be extradited to Ohio.

The FBI’s Cincinnati branch confirmed Marlow’s arrest in Kansas on Saturday after previously warning that he had ties to Indianapolis, Chicago and Lexington.

Porter described the shooting deaths in Butler Township as “the first violent crime in this neighborhood in recent memory.”
