Ahead of Suzume's anticipated release around the world this spring, Crunchyroll has announced the voice cast behind the English dubbed release.

It's been confirmed that Makoto Shinkai's Japanese anime film will be led by Superstore's Nichole Sakura, who is lending her voice to the titular character, Suzume Iwato.

Other cast members include The Spectacular Spider-Man's Josh Keaton as Souta Munakata, Jennifer Sun Bell as Tamaki Iwato, Joe Zieja as Tomoya Serizawa, and Lena Josephine Marano as Daijin.

While Shinkai directed the original film and voice cast, Bill Millsap will direct the English dub at Bang Zoom! Studios.

Suzume's official synopsis reads: "17-year-old Suzume's journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, 'I’m looking for a door'.

"What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck.

"Seemingly drawn by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob. Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster."

Sakura is perhaps best known for her role as Cloud 9 employee Cheyenne on NBC's comedy series Superstore, which ran for six seasons.

There were originally plans for Cheyenne and Bo to receive a spin-off at the network, but in 2021 it was revealed that the project would not be moving forward.

Sakura most recently starred in Hulu sitcom Maggie, which follows a psychic who has the ability see her own future love life.

Suzume wouldn't be the first time Sakura has lent her voice to an animated character, as the actress has also had previous roles in Central Park, Beavis and Butt-Head and Robot Chicken.

Suzume is set for release in cinemas on April 14.
