The Super Pet Expo is returning to Edison. Here's everything you need to know

Rabbit, rat or rottweiler, people love their pets.

That's why for the 23rd year all things animals will be celebrated at the Super Pet Expo, a destination for people looking to do some shopping for their pet, adopt a new one, watch pet-themed entertainment and learn about how they can enrich their pets' lives.

Here's what you need to know if you plan on attending – and letting the fur fly.

When and where is the Super Pet Expo?

The annual event will take place Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3 at the New Jersey Convention Center at 97 Sunfield Ave. in Edison. It runs 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

How much does it cost?

Tickets are $15 for everyone over 12 and $10 for kids 4 to 11. Kids under 3 are free. Tickets can be purchased at eventspass.com/event/SuperPetExpoEdisonNJ2024.

Should I bring my pet?

People are encouraged to bring their vaccinated, friendly pets on non-retractable leashes. You're also likely to see leashed cats, iguanas, a horse and a toucan.

The expo will include plenty of interactive activities for both pets and their humans. Usually, about 2,500 dogs attend.

What's new this year?

The chief veterinary officer of the Dog Aging Project will share research findings of how people can help their dogs live longer through lifestyle choices, preventative health options and medical recommendations. People will also be able to enroll their dogs in the project to help garner further findings.

Jamie and Jessica Hatch from Gone to the Snow Dogs, who have over 6 million followers across social media, will share best practices about hotel and RV travel with pets. They will bring from Michigan their Siberian Huskies Memphis, Kira and Eleanor whom online viewers know from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Jim Masterson will teach his Masterson Method, an interactive system of body work to improve a dog’s comfort, mobility and longevity. Masterson will show visitors how to read subtle changes in a dog’s body language that alerts owners where their dog may hide tension or discomfort as well as the gentle bodywork techniques that will help release both.

Performing celebrity dog members of champion stunt dog trainer Chrissy Joy’s Bone-A-Fied Talent Group will show off their Frisbee skills, tricks and agility all weekend. Visitors will recognize some pups from national commercials and feature films. Joy hosts “The Dog Moms” and “Farm Girl” on DOGTV.

The Ultimate Dog Ball Pit will have 5,000 balls for dogs to play with.

Jersey Agility will host dog agility demonstrations and free classes.

The Doggie Derby, races for dachshunds, corgis and other small dog breeds, invites a family member, toy or treat to entice participants to dash to the finish line with prizes for all winners. A $15 per-race preregistration online is recommended.

Must Love Dogs and Comedy will host a comedy show.

Dogs, cats, ferrets, birds and rats can audition to be stars with Pawsitively FAMOUS Animal Talent Agency & Podcast. Dawn Wolfe, trainer of Hollywood pet stars, will also share audition tips.

A dog fashion show will take place.

The 11th annual Repticon will showcase of hundreds of reptiles. Experts will also give advice and sell supplies and reptile products.

Luring 101, a capture the flag activity for dogs who love to chase, will again take place in a 2,500 square foot luring course.

Who will be there?

Exhibitors will include pet adoption, pet care and health, grooming, food and day care, along with an exceptional array of creative pet gifts, treats, fashion, grooming accessories and toys at the largest pet shopping extravaganza on the East Coast.
