Super Long Oriental Shorthair Cat Has People Absolutely Shook

We've seen big cats. We've seen fluffy cats. But have you ever seen a long cat? Just trying to imagine it seems really weird, but they're real! Like the absolutely gorgeous cat that won Best in Show recently at a cat show. It had people doing double (and triple!) takes online.

We knew we were in for something special when the judge in the video pulled the cat out of its carrier and exclaimed "Lord have mercy!"

And with good reason. The Oriental Shorthair was long — we're talking really long. And was stretched to its full capacity in the video online.

"This is called an Oriental Shorthair," the woman said in the clip. "These are tubular — long and tubular — with rock-hard bodies with close-lying coats, and then they have this super-refinement in the boning." We think that's cat judge speak for "he's a stunner!"  And he really is.

"Today he is my best cat in show!" she added.

The cat was honestly unlike anything we've ever seen before. And judging by some of the comments online, it seems like people didn't know what to make of the long cat either. "The LORD HAVE MERCY was all that needed to be said," joked one woman. "I believe that’s actually called a long boi," someone else kidded. "I need a cat show judge to hype me up like that," a third person chimed in.

While another commenter made a hilarious comparison to a certain famous super tall celebrity — "That's Adam Driver," they wrote.

All About the Oriental Shorthair

If you're unfamiliar with the Oriental Shorthair, it's good to know that it's part of the Siamese cat family. These cats can be long and sleek — although these guys seem even longer than their more famous relatives.

Oriental Shorthairs come in 300 different colors — 300! — and are sometimes known as "rainbow cats." But what really stands out are their personalities. These cats are intelligent, athletic, and vocal. They also love attention from their owners, so make sure you pony up the love or they'll get miffed.

In fact unlike many other breeds, you could almost consider the Oriental Longhair to be very social. They like humans and are downright gregarious in nature. It's actually worse to leave an Oriental Shorthair cat alone for too long — it makes them depressed. So if you were hoping for a low-effort cat that doesn't need a lot of attention, these are definitely not the cat for you!
