Sun shines in New Hampshire town where Trump was ‘forced’ to scrap rally over Tropical Storm Fay

Maybe it wasn’t the weather that caused President Trump to cancel a re-election rally after all.

The sun was shining bright all afternoon in Portsmouth, N.H., despite Trump’s claims that he was “forced” to scrap his rally due to Tropical Storm Fay.

The heavy rain and winds were long gone before the planned speech time, giving credence to critics who believe Trump actually called off the rally because he didn’t want to face a poor turnout.

“Warm and sunny today in beautiful Portsmouth,” the Lincoln Project mocked Trump in a tweet including photos of the sun-splashed town, where the high temperature was 81 degrees.

“Good thing they canceled the rally in southern New Hampshire today ... the weather is just terrible here,” added Lori Dennis, a tourism marketer.

Trump blamed the threat of the tropical storm in his decision to cancel his rally a day earlier. Campaign officials vowed to reschedule the rally within a couple weeks time.

“With Tropical Storm Fay heading towards the Great State of New Hampshire this weekend, we are forced to reschedule our Portsmouth, New Hampshire Rally at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease. Stay safe, we will be there soon! #MAGA2020,” he tweeted Friday.

But some critics suggested that Trump was too humiliated after just 6,000 people turned up for his recent rally in Tulsa, Okla.

The New Hampshire event was supposed to take place in a cavernous airport hangar.

Trump drew a full house for an outdoor rally at Mount Rushmore on July 4.
