Summerfield, SMCC, Huron, Flat Rock, State Line earn boys victories

ERIE – It was fitting that a steal finally decided a defensive boys basketball game between Summerfield and Erie Mason Friday night.

Jha Jha Hornbeak came up with a steal in the line in the final seconds to secure a 46-43 Summerfield win over Erie Mason.

Mason missed a 3-pointer with seven seconds left that would have tied the game, then got the ball back two more times after that.

“Looking at the score you would think it was a poorly played offensive game,” Mason coach Kevin Skaggs said. “However, that is not the case. Both defenses really played aggressive, tough nosed defense. In the end, they made one more play”.
