Succession's Alan Ruck lines up next movie role in Crust ahead of series ending
Succession may be ending with its fourth season, but star Alan Ruck isn’t hanging around after lining up his next movie role.
The actor, who plays Connor Roy on the HBO show, has joined the cast for horror-comedy Crust, which is being directed by Sean Whalen (via Deadline).
The film tells the story of a lonely laundromat owner, Vegas Winters (Whalen), who “keeps the leftover socks from customers and uses them to clean himself. When he gets abused and weeps into the pile of socks, it turns into a creature who seeks revenge on Vegas’ enemies.”

Ruck will play Randy Roberts, a cocky former child star who is spearheading a reboot of his childhood show. Other actors attached to the project include Daniel Roebuck, Rebekah Kennedy and Shawntay Dalon.
Ruck has played Connor on Succession from the outset of the series, and will make his final appearance in the upcoming concluding season. Series creator Jesse Armstrong recently explained the reason behind the decision, saying it was purely a “creative” decision.
“It's been a bit tortured, and I felt unexpectedly nervous about talking to you, because it's all theoretical until this point, and I have tried to keep it theoretical for a whole number of reasons,” he said.

“Who knows about the psychological reasons, but the creative ones were that it felt really useful to not make the final, final decision for ages. You know, there's a promise in the title of Succession,” he continued.
“I've never thought this could go on forever. The end has always been kind of present in my mind. From season two, I've been trying to think: ‘Is it the next one, or the one after that, or is it the one after that?’”
Crust currently has no release date. Succession returns on March 26, 2023 on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
