STVM President Mark Butterworth to step down at the end of school year for NFL job

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School President Mark Butterworth is leaving the school to take a new position as the vice president of instant replay with the National Football League, STVM Executive Board Chairman Ralph Trecaso announced Friday.

“Leading the St. Vincent-St. Mary High School community has been such a blessing to me, bothprofessionally and personally," Butterworth said in a news release. "This community is like no other – it’s filled with smart and passionate people who are committed to educating our extraordinary students in the Catholic faith andthe Marianist tradition. I will forever bleed green and gold."

Butterworth, who previously served as the chief financial officer for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, served as the interim president for STVM since former president Leo Hyland stepped down in June 2023. He was officially named the private Akron school's president in November 2023.

Before stepping into the interim role, Butterworth served as STVM's chief operating officer since September 2022. Butterworth will remain with the school through the end of the year.

“Through his creative actions and steadfast dedication to our school staff and students, Mark has setus up for much future success,” said Trecaso. “The STVM community congratulates Mark on thisgreat opportunity and wishes him the best of luck in his new role at the NFL.”The executive board will lead a comprehensive search for Butterworth's successor in the coming months.
