BERLIN TWP. — Through cards and words of appreciation, Berlin Township firefighters and other first responders were honored by students from Jefferson North, Ridder and Niedermeier elementary schools and St. Charles Academy at a recent township meeting.

Supervisor Dave Reaume contacted the schools about the idea of making cards and said it was the perfect way to honor the 29 volunteers for the sacrifices they make to help keep the community safe.

“The fire department is such a valuable asset to the township,” Dave Reaume said. “We can’t do enough to thank them for their time. In light of what they had just dealt with, the tragedy at Swan Boat Club, I wanted to honor them for all they do.”
