Teen charged with attempted murder after student stabbed at Columbia High School

A student was allegedly stabbed by another student at Columbia High School on Thursday afternoon, according Richland 1.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of Omari Fortenberry, 17, following the attack. Fortenberry is being charged as an adult for attempted murder, according to the department.

The student who was stabbed was transported to a hospital, a district spokesperson said in a statement.

According to the district, the school is operating on a secure status as a precaution. Deputies say that they found the knife that was used inside of the school.

No other students or staff were harmed, and there is no immediate threat to others.
