Work has officially resumed at the future home of Hawaiian Tanning Studio, 620 Airport Ave.

Kyle Kearns, the director of community development for Wisconsin Rapids, confirmed the project received the green light to resume construction after it was previously put on hold.

In October, Kearns told the Daily Tribune the city had issued a stop order and revoked building permits due to failed inspections, but crews continued working on the project. Kearns said the project could resume once it passed inspections.

The city has since lifted the stop work order and reinstated all permits to continue construction.

Last week, Misty's Menu announced on its Facebook page it will soon have new owners operating the restaurant at 9041 State 13 S. in Saratoga.

According to the post, the restaurant will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. When Misty's Menu reopens Jan. 2, Mike and Chrissy Fleischman will be the new owners.

"Mike and Chrissy are a great couple with many, many years of restaurant experience, and we have complete confidence that they will carry on what we have built over the last 22 years," Misty and Brian Nelson wrote in the post. "To say that we will miss our Misty's Menu family and our wonderful customers is a huge understatement, but we will most certainly be around quite often, so you never know when we will show up."

Misty and Brian opened the restaurant 22 years ago where Harriet's Kitchen Nook used to be. When Harriet Brown decided to sell the restaurant, she suggested the Nelsons buy it, as Brian Nelson had worked with her for years as a food distributor. Over the years, the restaurant became best known for its pies, breakfast menu and its Dutch Caramel Apple Pie Bread.

Customers can expect to find the same restaurant name, menu, food and staff, along with some new additions to come in the future.
