Steve Nash Reacts To The Ben Simmons Decision

Ben Simmons was supposed to make his Nets debut in Game 4. Then it became Game 5. Now, it’s Game 8 – see what we did there?

Simmons, whom the Nets acquired in the blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, has yet to suit up in a Nets uniform. The missing piece of Brooklyn’s supposed “Big 3” has been recovering from a herniated disc.

Now down 0-3 to the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs, the Nets could use Simmons more than ever. They’re not going to get the help they need. Simmons won’t play in Game 4 on Monday night as the Nets stare down an inevitable sweep.

Steve Nash isn’t even surprised. In fact, he told reporters on Monday morning that he never expected Simmons to play by Game 4.

What on earth is going on in Brooklyn? The Nets really traded away James Harden for a benchwarmer. What a downright disaster this has been.

“This is one of the most pathetic situations I’ve ever seen in my life,” Stephen A. Smith said about the situation during halftime of the Warriors-Nuggets game on Sunday, via Yahoo.

“He ain’t going to war. He ain’t going into the octagon. He’s not going into the boxing ring. It’s pulling teeth to get this man to play basketball. It’s pathetic. It’s sad. And at the end of the day, when the NBA gets in the collective bargaining table, and they go after the players in terms of a pay for play stipulation in the collective bargaining agreement, it’s going to be called the Ben Simmons Rule.”

The Nets will try and avoid the sweep at the hands of the Celtics tonight at 7 p.m. ET.
