Stermer, Farr toss senior 700 series at Crystal Lanes, while Krout rolls 300

There were five familiar names at the top of the scoring ledger for the Chilson-Wilcox Senior Men’s League with both John Stermer and Al Farr reaching the 700 level. Spots three, four and five were taken by some other familiar ‘young’ seniors.

John grabbed the honors for this league when he kicked off a 713 series with a 290 game. He tacked on scores of 233 and 190 for his 713. Super sub Al Farr got nailed with a split on his last shot but had just enough for seven when his scores of 263, 226 and 211 added up to 700 on the nose.

One of the other ‘youngsters’ in this league, Tim DeGraw, nearly closed on a seven but had to settle for a 693 series on games of 232, 236 and 225. Bruce Stanton was next with a 671 that featured a 247 game while Mike Donovan capped a 657 set with a 236 game. Rich Granger three-deuced his way to a 643 series while Mike Smallcomb reached 612 and Dan VanArtsdalen notched a 607 series.

In other senior action, Mike Stanley topped the Striking Seniors Mixed League with a 603 series.

Josh Krout rolls 300

After opening the weekly session of the Hatfield Real Estate Men’s League with a less than desirable 179 game, Josh Krout turned things around quickly and perfectly. He shook off that first game and came back with a strong 254 game. Then came the perfect ending to the evening. Josh just destroyed 12 racks in a row to close the night with a 300 game and 733 series. Now, that’s a comeback.

Eight other guys in the Hatfield League also topped 700. Derik Lisi led that parade when he put together games of 247, 238 and 277 for a 762 series. Chad Farr polished off a 737 series and Jeff Krout rode a 286 first game to a 735 series. Tim DeGraw tossed a 730 set while Jamie Kennedy rolled a 727 series that featured a 289 game and Joe Crown notched a 725 total. Jim Sjoblom and Al Farr came away with scores of 711 and 702 respectively.

Al Farr nearly had his second 800 series of the season in the Tire World of Corning Men’s League. After opening the session with a 237 game, he fired back to back 279 games to finish with a 795 series. He missed eight but did come away with scoring honors for the week.

That same league also had five other guys top the 700 mark. Chad Farr rode a 267 game to a 725 series while JR Fleming capped a 713 set with a 269 game. Jim Pitts rolled a 708 while teammate Patsy Cornacchio busted a 299 game with a stone nine pin (he’s a lefty) on his last shot on his way to a 705 and Aaron Hamilton closed things with a 703 series.

Aaron did, however, take home runner-up scoring honors for the week with his performance in the Joey’s Contracting Mixed League. After slamming a 268 opening game, the big boy blasted scores of 247 and 265 for a 780 series. In the same league, Jim Pitts rode a 277 game to a 712 series.

Jamie Kennedy paced a trio of sevens in the Gary Cortright Memorial Mixed League with a 730 set while John Austin ripped a 702 and Al Farr snuck in a 701 total.

In other men’s league action, Ron Bush whacked a 726 set to lead the Jubilee Foods Mixed League while Lou Southard added a 720 set that included a 279 game. Brandon Harrington topped the Addison Men’s League with a 724 series while Corey Cowan recorded a 708 series. Don Pierce closed the seven shooting for the men with a 703 series that led the Atlas Pizzeria Mixed League.

Cindy Bryant rolls first 500

It turned out to be a memorable night for Cindy Bryant in the Sun Legends Grille Mixed League this week at Crystal Lanes. She recorded her first ever 500 series when she put together games of 174, 178 and 160 for a 512 series.

Five ladies topped the 600 mark this week from four different leagues.

Anita Gennosa grabbed the ladies honors for the week when she tossed a 685 series in the Cortright Mixed League. She got better as the night got older with games of 213, 224 and 248 in that order.

Runner-up honors for the ladies this week heads to the Joey’s League where Deon Frost three-deuced (216-219-223) her way to a 658 total. In the same league, Gwen Bain rode a 248 game to a 601 total.

Rounding out the ladies sixes for the week was Heather Farr, who topped the gals in the Jubilee Foods League with a 619 series and Margaret Randall who paced the Savona Storage Ladies with a 606 set that featured a 226 game.

The action on the junior circuit has quieted down a bit, but Camryn Stefanini is still making some noise in the Spring Adult.Junior Mixed League. He hasn’t lost beat from his recent state title accomplishments. After opening with a robust 279 game, Cam collected games of 226 and 227 for a 732 series.

Wagfest Memorial event on April 13

Here’s a quick reminder about an event taking place this Saturday, April 13 at Crystal Lanes. The Wagfest Memorial Fund will be hosting a bowling fundraiser event. For $20 you get three hours of open bowling, with shoe rental, door prize ticket and a chance to win other raffle prizes. They will also have a 50/50 raffle and food and beverage will be available. Note that the $20 bucks is for open bowling and not a tournament. It’s just a new way to attract all kinds of bowlers. In other words, come down and have some and support a great cause.

All proceeds will go to the Wagfest Memorial Fund. For those unfamiliar with Wagfest, they help families who have lost a child and help with unexpected funeral costs. It’s a wonderful local organization and 100% of the funds are used for that purpose. Visit their website (a google search will do the trick) and find out more about Wagfest.

If you can’t make the bowling event, maybe consider a donation through the website.
