Sterling K. Brown Is ‘California Chic’ in Todd Snyder’s New Campaign

In a lush campaign shot at the Sheats–Goldstein residence in Hollywood Hills—which is officially launching tomorrow but appearing first on Esquire—the Oscar-nominated actor, who most recently starred in American Fiction, is the epitome of the Todd Snyder man. He's confident, he's chic, and naturally, he's a pro at the unbuttoned, unbothered, warm-weather layering look for which Todd Snyder is so well-known.

The actor, who describes his own personal style as "California chic," captures the versatility of a Todd Snyder spring wardrobe with ease. About his own style, Brown says he reaches for "the kind of looks where if you’re playing with your kids and then going to a dinner meeting, you would look good in them." Dressing up without dressing up is what this campaign is all about, putting together pieces that can seamlessly go from work to play to leisure—a tailored jacket with a tank top underneath, a pleated trouser made easy and effortless with a strappy leather sandal.

"When I go home to St. Louis for a wedding or a funeral, I might not be as buttoned-up as everybody else, but I like the versatility of dressing in a more relaxed way," he says.

In the campaign, "California chic" is exactly what Brown exudes. He's lounging on a leather couch in a linen blazer, suede slip-ons, and a knit polo; he's standing tall by the poolside, patterned bandanna tucked neatly into the see-through collar of his mesh tank; he's on the balcony, leaning against the wall in breezy linen shorts and chocolate sandals.
