Step into the world of On Set Studios ahead of the Creative Ball

I think any photographer’s “arrival” moment, though there are many, is opening their first street front studio. It’s a pinnacle moment where your name on a building exposed to the goings and comings of a lively downtown scene is something incredibly special. Starting out in this business, you often wonder where it will take you, what relationships will you forge, what opportunities await, and all the “what ifs.” It is completely natural to aspire for the professional version of ourselves that we see before it becomes reality; On Set Studios has been in the crosshairs of my vision since the very beginning.

At a time in our society where the field of creative content and visual media continues to rapidly evolve, I have often realized the need for a foundational pallet to build a compelling story visually. So much has changed over the years, in which photography and various media lend an expectation from the viewer. I believe we are in a time where we must all seek the inspiration to evolve, grow, and survive in an industry that will easily and quickly leave you behind.

In a casual phone call one afternoon with one of my close friends, Jeannette Sibley, we talked about the fast-paced world of visual storytelling;having a space that caters to the diverse needs of photographers, videographers, content creators, and event organizers is paramount. We both understand the power of versatility and recognized the need fora dynamic environment where imagination can run wild. With my established name and her business savvy entrepreneurial spirit, it was there that we decided to partner together and bring our vision to life in a newly renovated, art deco inspired space that had just undergone extensive restoration from the talents of Jason Cram and his crew at Vintage Design Group.

Sitting at 425 Crockett Street in downtown Shreveport, On Set Studios is a blank canvas where photographers, videographers, and content creators can transform their ideas into striking reality. The studio boasts a meticulously curated collection of backdrops and settings that were conceived and hand built by local craftsman and good friend, Jason Russell, and cater to a wide array of themes and moods. From urban textures and modern interiors to regal and fantasy nooks and aesthetics, the studio offers endless possibilities for capturing unique and immersive narratives. This flexibility enables visual storytellers to bring their visions to life, providing them with the freedom to experiment and push the boundaries of their craft.

Taking all of these elements into careful consideration, the way I presented this space to the community was key. I have always found great pride in the way any project in my care and conception is delivered. That’s why I sought some of the most respected names in fashion, beauty, and videography to tell the story in one big collaborative social media campaign. Mila and Carmin Ramirez are locally revered for their knowledge and expertise for quality hair and makeup services. Though both individually own their private business, Mila and Carmin combined sets the tone for a wow factor I knew would translate beautifully on film. I brought on Taylor Fajardo and Clayton Sawyer, a couple of guys that could provide a diverse visual and personality to the way the film transitioned. Taylor and Clayton are no stranger to the demands of the camera, and I felt confident we were in great hands with their talent.

Of everyone, my longest standing relationship in the room was with the incredibly talented TraJuan White with The Media Goats. I have placed immense trust in TraJuan through the years, and he has executed every single vison of mine without disappointment. A true creative himself, I know he will ultimately deliver a better version of what I asked for, no matter the concept. I have always had such a great respect for his craft. Lesha White, TraJuan’s wife, has found herself becoming more involved in the inner workings of TraJuan’s video work and has proven to be a keen resource for ideas and execution. Her creative contributions to this project can be found in the cover of this magazine itself, in which we photographed on the very day of this project.

Wardrobe and accessories were styled and provided by the by LBD by Design’s incredibly beautiful and talented fashion icon,Kimberly Harris. For anyone that is looking for that perfect polished look for any occasion, LBD has been a go to for us and our clientele for years. A Yellow Ribbon also contributed additional stylish gowns and accessories to season the looks with a diverse color palette and texture.
