Steelers GM Sends Clear Message About Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger will be under center for the Pittsburgh Steelers this fall in what might be his final NFL season. In fact, the latest comment from Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert makes it seem like this is “The Last Dance” for Roethlisberger.

When speaking to reporters this Tuesday about Roethlisberger’s future, Colbert said “2021 is all we’re worried about with Ben.”

Colbert isn’t flat-out telling the public that Roethlisberger will retire after the 2021 season is over, but it sounds like this will be the last hurrah for the two-time Super Bowl champion.

It would make a lot of sense for this to be the final year of Roethlisberger’s career since he reworked his contract to the point where he’s technically on a one-year, $14 million deal.

Roethlisberger hasn’t commented on what his career has in store for him after the 2021 season, but he did share an update on his health heading into this fall.

Last week, Roethlisberger told reporters that his arm feels great heading into the 2021 season.

“This time last year, I had thrown thousands of footballs trying to get ready for this,” Roethlisberger said. “This year, this was the first time I’ve thrown a ball since minicamp, other than throwing to my son in the backyard. It just feels more normal of an offseason, if you will. My arm feels really, really good.”

The Steelers will need Roethlisberger to play at a high level if they want to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
