Station 19 Final-Season Premiere Features a Life in the Balance, Big Choice for Maya/Carina

At long last, we have some semblance of what Station 19‘s farewell run — or at least the first hour of it — will look like.

Just weeks away from the first-responders drama’s Season 7 premiere (Thursday, March 14, at 10/9c on ABC), TVLine has gotten its hands on an actual synopsis for that first episode, titled “This Woman’s Work” (presumably a tip of the helmet to the Kate Bush song of that same name).

For starters, picking up where we left off in Season 6’s finale (recapped here), “Andy steps into the station’s captaincy as Jack’s life hangs in the balance.” Which is plenty o’drama enough. But this is Station 19, after all, so on top of that, “The team is called to a hostage situation, Natasha fights for her career, and Maya and Carina make a choice” (perhaps about adopting the baby they helped deliver for waitress Nanette?).

Returning series regulars include Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy, Jason George as Ben, Grey Damon as Jack, Barrett Doss as Vic, Jay Hayden as Travis, Danielle Savre as Maya, Boris Kodjoe as Robert, Stefania Spampinato as Carina, Carlos Miranda as Theo, Josh Randall as Sean and Merle Dandridge as Natasha.

Station 19 last TV season averaged 5.2 million total viewers and a 0.7 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 15 and 22 percent from its Season 5 numbers. Out of the 10 dramas that ABC during the 2022-23 season, it ranked fifth in total audience but tied The Rookie for No. 2 in the demo (trailing only Grey’s Anatomy).

ABC, however, went on to acquire another first responders drama, 9-1-1, from Fox, giving the network the highest-rated drama on broadcast TV. That new season of 9-1-1 will premiere Thursday, March 14, at 8 pm, leading into Grey’s Anatomy and with Station 19‘s farewell run now closing out the night.
