Statesman Journal hires Emma Logan as new outdoors journalism intern

Emma Logan is the Statesman Journal's new outdoors journalism intern.

Logan will cover outdoor recreation, public lands, wildfires and other outdoor issues during a 16-week internship that began earlier this spring.

She is from Sandy and graduated from the University of Oregon in March with a degree in journalism and minor in psychology.

“After spending my whole life exploring the state of Oregon, I am excited for the opportunity to bring my perspective and experiences as well as learn more about the outdoor community,” she said.

Logan has covered Oregon Ducks sports, collegiate ski racing and professional track and field through previous internships.

Since starting in April, Logan has written about guided hikes along Oregon's elusive 82-mile valley to coast Salmonberry Trail, the rising grass pollen count in the Willamette Valley and the number of trails still closed in the Eugene and Springfield area due to the January ice storm.

Logan grew up skiing and adventuring in the Mount Hood area and throughout the Pacific Northwest. Outside of work, her favorite things to do include backcountry skiing and finding new trails to mountain bike or run to see the sunset.
