State tournament berths on the line Tuesday for West Sound baseball, boys soccer teams
North Kitsap claimed Olympic League titles in baseball and boys soccer this spring. Now the Vikings are in search of state tournament berths — and can secure those Tuesday during district playoff games in Poulsbo.
Here's a look at the slate of district postseason games for baseball and boys soccer scheduled for the first part of the week:
In the Class 2A West Central/SeaKing Bi-District baseball tournament, North Kitsap (17-4) earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 Franklin Pierce in a winner-to-state game at 4 p.m. A win would put the Vikings into a semifinal game Saturday at 10 a.m. at Central Kitsap High School. A loss would send North Kitsap into an elimination game Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Poulsbo.
Other 2A bi-district tournament baseball games Tuesday include No. 8 Olympic (11-9) at No. 1 Enumclaw, No. 16 Evergreen at No. 9 Kingston (10-10), and No. 15 North Mason (6-12) at No. 10 White River. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m. and are loser-out contests. The Trojans, Buccaneers and Bulldogs need to win three consecutive games in order to reach state.
In the 3A West Central/Southwest Bi-District baseball tournament, No. 17 Bainbridge (15-6) blanked No. 13 Spanaway Lake 11-0 in a play-in game last week, but the Spartans need three more victories to qualify for state. Bainbridge travels to No. 12 North Thurston on Tuesday at 4 p.m. In the 4A West Central/Southwest Bi-District tournament, No. 12 South Kitsap (10-11) hosts No. 13 Kentwood in a loser-out game Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Wolves need three district playoff wins to grab a state berth.
Defending 1A state baseball champion Klahowya (13-6) is seeded No. 2 in West Central District tournament. The Eagles will face either No. 6 East Jefferson or No. 3 Charles Wright on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Foss High School in Tacoma. It's not an elimination game, but Klahowya needs to pick up two victories to book a trip to state.
Sea-Tac League baseball champion Crosspoint (14-1) faces Mount Vernon Christian in a winner-to-state, 1B district semifinal game at Gene Lobe Field at the Fairgrounds at Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Warriors defeated Evergreen Lutheran 5-1 in a quarterfinal game last week.
In boys soccer, undefeated North Kitsap (15-0) earned the No. 1 seed in the 2A West Central/SeaKing Bi-District tournament. The Vikings, who placed second at state in 2023, host a winner-to-state game against No. 8 Washington on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Two other West Sound teams will be in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday: No. 16 North Mason (6-8-1) plays a loser-out game at No. 9 White River, while No. 7 Bremerton (9-6) travels to No. 2 Franklin Pierce in a winner-to-state game.
In the 3A West Central/Southwest Bi-District boys soccer tournament, No. 1 Central Kitsap (13-1-2) already secured a state berth with a 3-2 overtime win against No. 8 Timberline last weekend. The Cougars play No. 5 Gig Harbor on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a district semifinal game. No. 17 Bainbridge (15-3), which has already won elimination games over No. 13 Bonney Lake (3-1) and No. 12 North Thurston (5-0), takes on No. 4 Mountainview in a loser-out game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.
In the 1A West Central District tournament, No. 3 Klahowya (12-3-2) won on penalty kicks against No. 6 East Jefferson in the first round. The Eagles take on No. 2 Cascade Christian on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Bowl in Tacoma.
