State police: 2 injured after high-speed chase ends with crash in Northborough

NORTHBOROUGH ― Three people are in custody following a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle, according to state police.

The pursuit, which began in Ashland, ended on Interstate 290 in Northborough.

The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing caught sight of the speeding Lexus in Ashland and quickly communicated with troopers on the ground, the spokesman said. Both the helicopter and ground patrols pursued the vehicle as it traveled in the direction of Central Massachusetts, proceeding from Route 9 to Interstate 495, to Route 70, and then on to Interstate 290.

Troopers deployed stop sticks and the vehicle crashed on I-290.

According to state police there were three people in the car, "some of whom may be juveniles," and all three were taken into custody. Two of the suspects were taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

The vehicle was stolen in Peabody, police said.

Police believe the same vehicle was involved in an earlier crash in Marlborough.
