In-state Gamecocks linebacker to transfer

Another scholarship Gamecocks defender is slated to leave the program.

South Carolina linebacker Darryle Ware has entered the transfer portal, a USC spokesperson confirmed to The State.

Brad Crawford of 247Sports first reported the news.

Ware played in eight games this season for the Gamecocks, recording one tackle. He will conclude his time in Columbia having appeared in 20 games and recording 11 career tackles.

The Fort Dorchester High School product was a three-star prospect in the class of 2020. Ware was rated the No. 2,035 and No. 85 linebacker in the class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Originally joining the program as a walk-on, the Charleston native was put on scholarship in September 2021.

Walk-on defensive back Cam Hardy has also entered the transfer portal, the USC spokesperson confirmed.

Hardy, originally from Frisco, Texas, redshirted his first year with the team and appeared on scout team. He did not appear in a game in two seasons with the Gamecocks.
