Starting 5: Former Louisville basketball standout's jersey retired by Ballard High, more

A decade after graduating from Ballard High School, former Louisville guard Quentin Snider had his jersey retired by the Bruins during a ceremony last week.

Snider, Kentucky's 2014 Mr. Basketball, is the Bruins' career leader in scoring (2,442 points) and assists (633). He also led Ballard to the Seventh Region title game as a senior and a state title-game appearance in 2013.

Around the city: Louisville Bats release 2024 promotional schedule

The Louisville Bats recently released their 2024 promotional schedule that will commemorate the 25th year of Louisville Slugger Field's existence in downtown Louisville.

Opening Night is scheduled at 7:15 March 29 against the Indianapolis Indians. The Bats will host promotional nights including Stars Wars Night (April 27) and Derby 150 Night (April 13). The team will play as the Derby City Mint Juleps that evening.

Around the state: Former Barren Academy swimmer Mariah Denigan qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics

Former Barren Academy star and Indiana junior Mariah Denigan became the fifth woman in U.S. history to qualify for the Olympics in the 10K after she finished sixth at the 2024 World Aquatics World Championships in Doha, Qatar. She finished the race in 1 hour, 57 minutes, 31.10 seconds.

High school recruiting: Male football's Antonio Harris receives offer from Indiana

Antonio Harris, a two-sport athlete at Male High School, received a football scholarship offer from Indiana on Feb. 4. He finished the 2023 season with 25 receptions for 620 yards and 11 touchdowns, good for second on the team behind Max Gainey. Harris also recorded 15 tackles (10 solo) and two interceptions.

Harris has received offers from Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Ball State, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Purdue, and Louisville.

  • Bellarmine's men's basketball is scheduled to host Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m. Saturday.

  • Bellarmine women's basketball is set to visit Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. Thursday and North Alabama at 6 p.m. Saturday.

  • Louisville softball is scheduled to visit Florida International at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Cardinals will continue their road trip at the Joan Joyce Classic beginning Thursday in Boca Raton, Florida. U of L is set to play Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. Thursday. Louisville then is scheduled to play Seton Hall at 11:30 a.m. Friday and FAU at 4:30 p.m. Friday. U of L will end the tournament against Maine (9 a.m. Saturday) and Michigan (11:15 a.m. Saturday).

  • Bellarmine baseball is set to open its season with three road games against Tennessee Tech: 4 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Feb. 18.

  • Louisville women's lacrosse is scheduled to host Marquette at noon Friday.

  • Bellarmine men's lacrosse is set to visit Ohio State at 4 p.m. Tuesday and host Canisius at noon Saturday.

  • Louisville rowing has scrimmage races against Tennessee beginning Wednesday in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

  • Louisville swimming and diving is set to host the Louisville Invitational beginning Thursday at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
