Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas recently was honored with the Kentucky Derby Museum's inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.
Lukas, who has won 20 Breeders' Cup races and received five Eclipse Awards, has trained four Kentucky Derby winners. His most recent Derby winner was Charismatic in 1999.
He's also won six Preakness Stakes and four Belmont Stakes.

Around the city: Fern Creek basketball hires Roy Sutton to lead program
Fern Creek basketball recently hired Roy Sutton as its head coach. Last season, Sutton served as an assistant coach at Kentucky Country Day; before that, he was head coach at Moore for seven seasons. Sutton also worked as an assistant at Fern Creek. Last season, the Tigers went 13-14, losing to DeSales in the Sixth Region Tournament.

Around the state: Study reveals Warren County businesses generated $2.25 million thanks to Western Kentucky basketball programs
The economic impact the Western Kentucky basketball programs had in Warren County was worth $2.25 million during the 2023-24 season, according to a study by the Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The study focused on hotel stays during the Hilltoppers' 28 home games between the men's and women's teams. The Hilltoppers went 21-7 at home, with 55,000 attending games at E.A. Diddle Arena.
High school recruiting: North Oldham senior QB Jace Bullock signs national letter of intent to play for Eastern Kentucky
North Oldham senior quarterback Jace Bullock recently signed his national letter of intent to play football for Eastern Kentucky. Bullock, the 4A District Player of the Year, was a record-setting quarterback for the Mustangs. He posted records for single-game passing yards, career passing yards, single-game touchdowns and single-season TD passes. Bullock led the Mustangs to a 7-5 record in 2023.

Louisville men’s and women’s golf are competing at the ACC Championships. The women are scheduled to tee off beginning Thursday in Wilmington, North Carolina. The men are scheduled to tee off beginning Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Louisville track and field and Bellarmine track and field are scheduled to compete at the Jim Green Invitational beginning Friday in Lexington.
Louisville women’s rowing is set to compete at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta starting Saturday in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
