Who will start for Louisville football in Year 2 under Jeff Brohm? Depth chart projections

Louisville football's spring season tells only part of the team's story.

Between players recovering from injuries and others who are transferring, the Cardinals' team that takes the field Aug. 31 for the season opener against Austin Peay will look different than the squad that suited up April 19 for the Red-White game.

U of L already has lost eight players to the transfer portal since it opened April 16 but will benefit by getting healthier players back including safety MJ Griffin, offensive lineman Renato Brown and wide receiver Ja'Corey Brooks, who transferred to Louisville from Alabama in January.

Though coach Jeff Brohm won't know what he fully has until the fall, the spring allowed the team to develop its depth and gave new players including wide receiver Caullin Lacy and linebacker Jurriente Davis time to adapt to a new school and system. Both received quality reps over the last month and, even with a healthy squad, showed potential to be contributors in their first year at U of L.

With the spring football season over, here's a look at the projected depth chart for the fall:
