Learn about solar eclipse and how to view it

BREWSTER − The Massillon Public Library's Pam S. Belloni Memorial Branch, 12000 Navarre Road SW, will host a free Family Fun Night from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday about the upcoming solar eclipse.

Participants will learn about the solar eclipse and make pinhole projectors to help view it safely. Registered participants will get free eclipse glasses. For more information or to register, call 330-767-9939 or visit https://www.massillonlibrary.org.

Compass Rape Crisis to host fundraising event

CANTON − Purses for a Purpose, a signature Compass event, kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with an online purse auction and a culminating in-person celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 3 at the Cultural Center for Arts in downtown Canton.

The auction will have a wide selection of purses, bags and totes to bid on, and each bag is filled with mystery items with a minimum value of $50. Online bidding has begun and will end at 7:30 p.m. April 3.

Tickets for the in-person celebration are $50 and include appetizers and a cash bar. There also will be event-only merchandise available. Raffle tickets for a Gucci Marmont mini shoulder bag are $25 each. To purchase event tickets, raffle tickets and bid in the online auction, visit compassrapecrisis.org/purses. Proceeds raised from Purses for a Purpose will support crisis intervention and advocacy support, along with the purchase of comfort kits, journals and other healing items for survivors of sexual assault.

CANTON − The Stark County District Library's DeHoff branch, 216 Hartford Ave. SE, will host "Jeopardy! | First Ladies Trivia" from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Participants will test their knowledge and learn more about the first ladies of the United States.

Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular is Saturday

CANTON − Laser Spectacular, a multi-media laser and light show featuring the music of Pink Floyd, will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N.

The first half of the show, viewed through 3D glasses, features “Dark Side of the Moon.” The second half is viewed through prism glasses and rocks to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.” Doors open at 7 p.m.

Learn about Women Airforce Service Pilots

CANTON − Reed Kimball from the MAPS Air Museum will present "The Women of WASP" from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Stark County District Library's Madge Youtz branch, 2921 Mahoning Road NE.

The Women Airforce Service Pilots enlisted during World War II and played a pivotal role in the Air Force.

Program on finances for women is Tuesday

CANTON − A financial representative from Edward Jones will present the program "Five Money Questions for Women" from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stark County District Library's North Branch, 189 25th St. NW.

The program will focus on health, family, purpose and finances. Attendees will think through their own circumstances, goals and challenges so they can improve their quality of life in retirement.

Learn what to expect when enrolling and using Medicare, and get answers about plan options, benefits and cost. This program is intended for those approaching or older than 65, but all adults are welcome.

Meet authors of Massillon Tigers book

MASSILLON − The Massillon Public Library, 208 Lincoln Way E, will host the following programs:

  • Meet Becca Moore and Scott Ryan, the authors of "Massillon Against the World," from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium. The local authors of the new book about the Massillon Tigers' state championship football team will speak and sign autographs. Books will be for sale, and free refreshments will be available.

  • "Demystifying AI: A Beginner's Guide" will be presented from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the main library auditorium. Learn how simple it is to use artificial intelligence and how it is changing our future.

  • Astronomy education specialist Robin Gill from The Wilderness Center will share information from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the main library's auditorium about the upcoming solar eclipse and how to enjoy it safely.

Beatles tribute show April 6

MASSILLON − Hard Day's Night – A Beatles Tribute will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 6 at Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E.

Walsh University to host Solar Eclipse Fest

NORTH CANTON − Walsh University, 2020 E. Maple St., will host the Solar Eclipse Fest from 2 to 4 p.m. April 8 on the Quad behind the Toot Global Learning Center.

The celebration is free and open to the public. The event will feature science trivia, activities and food trucks, and a live radio broadcast on Sunny 101.7, featuring Josh Nagy, with giveaways and promotions.
