Disney and Lucasfilm debuted the Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 3 release date trailer, and there’s a pretty big surprise in it: Asajj Ventress is back. How this fan-favorite character is actually not dead remains a mystery, but Disney isn’t making us wait long to find out more.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 premieres on Feb. 21, 2024, on Disney Plus. Season 3 features 15 episodes, with the final airing on May 1, 2024, just a few days before the annual May the 4th celebrations, where we’ll almost certainly get news of yet more Star Wars TV shows.

"In the epic final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the Batch will have their limits tested in the fight to reunite with Omega as she faces challenges of her own inside a remote Imperial science lab," Lucasfilm said in the official description.

"With the group fractured and facing threats from all directions, they will have to seek out unexpected allies, embark on dangerous missions, and muster everything they have learned to free themselves from the Empire."

The trailer closes with Ventress making a sudden appearance, blazing yellow lightsaber in hand, before the screen fades to black. Ventress died as the Clone Wars drew to a close, following a rich and varied life as a Sith assassin, Jedi warrior, bounty hunter, and Dathomirian witch. Obi-Wan Kenobi helped lay her body to rest, but somehow, she returned.

Then again, Darth Maul came back to life with no problems after getting sliced in half, so really, anything’s possible in Star Wars.
