The SPY x FAMILY movie CODE: White has confirmed a UK release date.

Back in November, Crunchy Roll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a global theatrical release for the anime film, but the UK was not on the list of territories.

However, it has now been confirmed by Fetch Publicity that CODE: White will be released in select cinemas across the UK and Ireland from April 26, in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English-language dub.

Directed by Takashi Katagiri and written by Ichiro Okouchi, the upcoming film is the big screen debut for the popular anime, which has had two seasons so far.

The series, based on a 2019 manga of the same name, follows a spy called Twilight who, in order to investigate political leader Donovan Desmond, disguises himself as psychiatrist Loid Forger and builds a fake family.

He marries sweet yet deadly assassin Yor who has her own ambitions, and the pair pose as a happy family with their adopted daughter, with each being unaware of the other’s secret.

The synopsis of film CODE: White reads: "He’s a spy. She’s an assassin. Together, Loid and Yor keep their double lives to themselves while pretending to be the perfect family. However, their adopted daughter Anya, a telepath, knows both of their exciting secrets unbeknownst to them.

"While under the guise of taking his family on a weekend winter getaway, Loid’s attempt to make progress on his current mission Operation Strix proves difficult when Anya mistakenly gets involved and triggers events that threaten world peace."

The film’s story was supervised by the author of the original manga, Tatsuya Endo, and is described as both a treat for fans and a good introduction for viewers who are new to the franchise.

Meanwhile, SPY x FAMILY has not yet been confirmed for a third season, but its popularity means that there is every expectation that the show will return.

Also in the works is a video game adaptation of the show, titled SPY x ANYA: Operation Memories, with Bandai Namco Europe confirming that the game will be released in June.

SPY x FAMILY CODE: White will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on April 26.
