Spotify Wrapped is here — but how do you find it? Everything you need to know

Spotify

Spotify Wrapped, the music streaming service’s viral marketing campaign, released its 2022 edition on Wednesday, Nov. 30, allowing users to get a peek at their listening trends of the year.

But how do you find it? Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Spotify Wrapped.

How do I find my Spotify Wrapped?

Your Spotify Wrapped is available only on the Spotify mobile app, which can be downloaded on Apple and Google devices.

When you pull up the Spotify app, you’ll be notified that “Your 2022 Wrapped is ready.” Tapping on the Wrapped graphic will allow you to see your personalized story for the year.

Wrapped was released Wednesday, but it appeared to be a slow rollout. Some users reported their Wrapped was not showing up, but for some, it began appearing by 9 a.m. ET.

What new features are in Spotify Wrapped 2022?

In addition to past favorites — top songs, artists and favorite genres — Spotify users received a little more personalized info in this year’s report.

Users will learn their own “Listening Personality” in this year’s version.

“We’re showcasing 16 different Listening Personality types that Spotify created for 2022 Wrapped,” Spotify said. “Your Wrapped will showcase your Listening Personality based on how you listened to music throughout the year.”

An extra feature called “Audio Day” will showcase “how your music taste evolved throughout the day.”

Who were the most streamed artists in 2022?

For the third straight year, Bad Bunny is the most streamed artist in the world on Spotify. Taylor Swift, who released her highly anticipated “Midnights” album earlier this fall, was the No. 2 most streamed artist.

The top 5 was rounded out by Drake, The Weeknd and BTS.

What were the most streamed albums and songs?

Harry Styles’ “As It Was” was the most streamed song globally in 2022. “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals was No. 2, followed by “STAY” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber, “Me Porto Bonito” by Bad Bunny featuring Chencho Corleone and “Tití Me Preguntó” by Bad Bunny.

As for the most streamed albums, Bad Bunny once again tops the list. His album “Un Verano Sin Ti” was No. 1 on Spotify’s annual chart.

“Harry’s House” by Harry Styles was No. 2, with Olivia Rodrigo’s “SOUR,” Ed Sheeran’s “=” and Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” rounding out the top 5.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking?

Spotify has previously said Wrapped “only covers the 1st of January until the 31st of October for any given year.”

This might explain why Swift’s album “Midnights” was not among the mos streamed albums of the year. “Midnights” was released Oct. 21, just days before the Wrapped cutoff.

What is Spotify Instafest?

You may have been seeing personalized music festival lineups appear on social media in recent days. This is from a third-party app called Instafest, which is not directly affiliated with Spotify.

Instafest analyzes a user’s listening tastes and curates a fake music festival with their most played artists.

“I just worked on it for a full day, finished it, and then posted it online,” 20-year-old Anshay Saboo told SFGate.com. “And now here we are within a week, and somehow it just steadily exponentially grew over the past week. And we’ve had over six and a half million users on the app, and it’s still going up fast, too.”
