Bengals RB Joe Mixon pleads not guilty to aggravated menacing after he allegedly pointed gun at woman

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon pleaded not guilty Wednesday to aggravated menacing charges stemming from allegations that he pointed a gun at a woman in January. His bond was set at $10,000, according to court documents, and he was ordered to have no contact with the woman.

Mixon, 26, faces up to six months in jail and a maximum $1,000 fine under Ohio law for a first-degree misdemeanor.

Police originally issued an arrest warrant for Mixon on Feb. 2, but the charges were later dropped. Charges were refiled April 7 after new evidence came to light. Police claim that Mixon allegedly pointed a gun at a woman during a road rage incident in January and said, "You should be popped in the face. I should shoot you. The police [can't] get me."

Mixon was wrapped up in another gun-related incident a month after the initial arrest. Police were called to his residence March 6 after a teenager was reportedly shot on the premises. Mixon was later cleared as a suspect and faced no charges, but his sister and her boyfriend were both indicted on multiple charges.

Mixon's future with the Bengals remains a big question heading into the 2023 season. Mixon will make at least $9 million in base salary each of the next two seasons, per Over The Cap, and is coming off his worst season since his rookie year.

Quarterback Joe Burrow is eligible for an extension this summer, wide receiver Tee Higgins will be an impending free agent after this season, and receiver Ja'Marr Chase will be in line for a new deal next offseason. The Bengals will reportedly ask Mixon to take a pay cut or release him, according to The Athletic's Paul Deher Jr.

The most pressing issue for Mixon right now, though, is his legal troubles.
