Sports medicine physician Matthew Sykes joins medical group

Jan. 3—Sports medicine physician Matthew Sykes, DO, has joined Cullman Regional Medical Group. Sykes is board-certified in family medicine and fellowship-trained in sports medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Pikeville — Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, N.C. After his residency he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. where he also served as assistant professor of Family Medicine and Sports Medicine for the Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Sykes provides the following services: Sports and exercise medicine, regenerative medicine, ultrasound-guided procedures, platelet-rich plasma therapy, large joint viscosupplementation, non-surgical fracture management, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, concussion management, sports and exercise injuries management and minimally invasive tendon procedures
