We spoke with 5 Mississippi moms about what they want on Mother's Day. Here is what they said

Mom, mama, mommy, stepmom...mother, no matter what name they go by, they are the superhero that holds a title so special in their loved one's lives.

Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May and every mother is celebrated in a special way.

Maybe they are showered with gifts from family, cute little "I love you mom" cards from their child(ren), flowers from a spouse or significant other, or maybe even brunch with their girlfriends.

This year, the Clarion Ledger talked to five different moms about motherhood and what would make their day perfect to them. What would be on their Mother's Day bucket list?

Below are 25 things these special mothers said they would want to do on their Mother's Day:

Debra Gibson is a 61-year-old mother of two daughters, Victoria and Lisa Gibson from Jackson, and grandmother to three granddaughters.

Gibson on motherhood:

"My ability to provide whatever was necessary for my girls and I to excel in life is what makes me a great mom and grandmother," Gibson said. "I chose to be a wise woman, Proverbs 14:1, teaching my girls to pray with a purpose, obey God's word and authority, respect each other, spend time together and impart strong morals of integrity; let's not forget the financial responsibility that a wise woman must exhibit and just being able to give them the opportunity to experience more in life than what I experienced."

Gibson's bucket list:

  • Peace and quiet

  • A spa day

  • A mini vacation

  • A steak dinner

  • Shopping

Joiner on motherhood:

"I wouldn’t say I’m a great mom, but I’m a work in progress and learning each day. My priority is making sure that my daughter is safe, healthy and in a nurturing environment that helps her grow and develop," Joiner said. "My goal is to provide her with the tools to become a successful, productive citizen and instill in her that she is beautiful, smart, creative, and talented. Each day I make choices that I believe are in her best interest. Of course, there are times I don’t get it right and could do some things better. I am grateful to have the opportunity to have this motherhood experience and all that comes with it."

Joiner's bucket list:

  • A spa day that includes a manicure, pedicure, facial and massage

  • A deep house cleaning (I would like to throw in my car too)

  • Five healthy meals for the week prepared by a renowned personal chef

  • A photo shoot with my daughter

  • Quality time with family at a nice spot with beautiful flowers overlooking a body of water (I may just take a nap)
