A Georgia tour ranks among the nation’s best — but you may need to brace yourself.

That’s because the tour made it onto a list of the most “spine-chilling experiences” in the United States, according to results shared Wednesday, Oct. 5.

The experience — called the 90-Minute Savannah History & Haunts Candlelit Walking Ghost Tour — landed in the No. 3 spot after Tripadvisor said it studied ratings that U.S. travelers left on its website.

“This list was determined based on experience products that are highly-rated by travelers on Tripadvisor in a category deemed ‘spooky’ by Tripadvisor’s editors (including ghost tours, vampire tours, murder mystery tours, witch tours, and more),” the company told McClatchy News in an email.

The Savannah History & Haunts said its tours run under the “eerie glow of candlelight,” an aspect that caught the attention of several Tripadvisor users. Others went online to rave that their guides dressed in period clothing as they told of the lingering mysteries of Savannah’s past, helping the tour earn five out of five stars.

“Meet your costumed guide in central Savannah after dark, and discover its historical squares, cobblestone streets, moss-draped trees, and even its cemeteries,” Tripadvisor wrote in its report. “As you go, learn about the city’s scariest ghost stories, unexplained happenings, and chilling characters.”

Some travelers users said the tour left them with chills, while others were fans of learning more about the city’s history. Though the national rankings focused on destinations that are trending in October, Savannah History & Haunts offers tours throughout the year.

The results come another Georgia activity was named among the nation’s fall favorites. Last month, one of the state’s farms made it onto a Yelp list of best places for pumpkin picking.

In the latest Tripadvisor rankings, the highest-rated tour was in Salem, Massachusetts, home to the witch trials of the 1600s. Rounding out the top five were tours in New Orleans; Charleston, South Carolina; and Washington, D.C.
