A Spider-Man Noir show starring Nicolas Cage is coming to Prime Video internationally.

The streamer announced on Tuesday (May 14) that Cage will reprise his animated role as Spider-Man Noir from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this time in live-action (via Variety).

Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal are all involved in the Spider-Man Noir show, with Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) serving as showrunners.

This TV spinoff will revolve around Cage's alternate version of Peter Parker as an aging, down-on-his-luck private detective in 1930s New York City. As Peter aims to take down criminals, he struggles with his past as a costumed superhero.

While there have been many depictions of Spider-Man on the big and small screens, this will be the first time Spider-Man Noir will get a live-action adaptation. The project is also Cage's first recurring TV role.

Amazon MGM executive Vernon Sanders announced the new show: "Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity, and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers.

"The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way."

The streamer has previously confirmed another Spider-Man TV spinoff was in the works, to be based around the hero Silk.

Cage's Noir was one of the standout characters from 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but the actor did not reprise his role in last year's sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. A sequel to that film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is now in development.

The actor has lots of experience in the comic genre, including being picked to play the Man of Steel in director Tim Burton's scrapped movie Superman Lives. He would later get to play the role in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies and The Flash.
