It’s not just NFL teams or scouts who have been impressed with former South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler during the Reese’s Senior Bowl practices this week, but also his teammates.

Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy tweeted on Friday that Rattler was named the top quarterback on the American team, an honor voted on by his defensive teammates.

The Senior Bowl will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET and be broadcast on NFL Network.

Rattler, who threw for nearly 3,200 yards and 19 touchdowns this past season with the Gamecocks, arrived in Mobile, Alabama a ways down in the quarterback rankings, behind guys like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. and others.

But the 6-foot-1, 218-pounder has garnered rave reviews this week.

The Draft Network’s Damian Parson called Rattler one of his biggest winners of the Senior Bowl practices. ESPN’s Louis Riddick said the former Gamecock looked “Very poised (and) very business like.” Nagy even said talking with folks around the NFL, “the league now is higher on Spencer Rattler than it seems like the media is.”

Also drawing some praise is former South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette and former running back Marshawn Lloyd, who transferred to Southern California last year.

Riddick called Legette one of his favorite players from this week and turned heads after struggling during the first practice in Mobile.

Lloyd, meanwhile, was named the top running back on the National team, voted on by the linebackers who faced him all week.
