Speeding motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle crash in Arlington, police say

A motorcyclist who Arlington police believe was traveling at an “excessive speed” was killed Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash.

The name of the man who died had not been released as of Thursday.

Police responded to a major accident call just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Debbie Lane involving a three-wheel motorcycle.

When they arrived, officers found a 30-year-old man lying unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the man lost control of his 2018 Can-Am Spyder MC as he was driving east along Debbie Lane, went off the roadway, and was thrown from the trike.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time, police said, and excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Based on physical evidence at the scene, investigators also believe the rider was doing doughnuts in a nearby intersection prior to the crash.
