Spectacular $4.89M SC home has 3 enormous glass walls that move, weigh half a ton each
A home in Wexford on Hilton Head Island is on the market for $4.895 million.
This home, which can be found at 36 Plumbridge Circle, is currently the most expensive residence on the market in the gated community.
The residence’s design was inspired by the Gamble House in Pasadena, California. It features a distinctive aesthetic highlighting its unique craftsmanship, with an addition of modern touches for any prospective buyer.
The home was completed in 2013 by builder William Byrd. Construction took three years to complete.
The home was carefully crafted with immense attention to detail.
“There is nothing else like it here,” Byrd said.
Inside the residence lies a grand staircase made of reclaimed walnut wood, which was crafted with no nails. The grand staircase was built using a system of wooden pegs and took a year to finish.
The home, at 36 Plumbridge Circle, is 6,389 square feet and features five bedrooms, six full and three partial bathrooms, a five or more car garage, a steam shower and several fireplaces.
Within the great room lies three moving glass walls, each weighing 1,000 pounds per piece, that give unencumbered views of the harbor.
Highlighted on the exterior of the home, there is also a private 70 foot boat slip and a harborside waterfall pool and spa.
Beautiful tile work and glass also makes its mark within the residence in several locations.
Similar to Greene and Greene’s work, the architects of the Gamble House, nature is depicted throughout the home. It can be found within featured custom stained glass and tile work.
“It is an architectural masterpiece,” said listing agent Allyson Etheridge, a partner in the Etheridge Group. “With five ensuite bedrooms, three half-baths, the spa and pool, and harbor access leading to the Intracoastal Waterway — this is a true entertainer’s home unlike anything in the area.”
Recently, The Etheridge Group hosted an “Uncorked” wine tasting event at the residence, giving invited community members an immersive experience in the estate. This was an exclusive wine-tasting experience with Sotheby’s Wine. Attendees of the event tasted Chardonnay, Chianti, and Haut-Medoc.
“This was a unique way to showcase 36 Plumbridge Circle to members of the Wexford community. We were thrilled to connect with neighbors and provide this wine tasting experience only available through the Sotheby’s International Realty brand,” listing agent Brian Etheridge remarked about the event.
