This specialty massage business to open this week in Bellingham

A new business to help clients relieve stress is about to open in Bellingham.

Serene Footfalls, a reflexology clinic, is set to open Thursday, Sept. 22, at 1200 Dupont St. in unit 2A.

The grand opening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. will offer a demonstration of the practice by reflexologist Michele Nagy. The event will also allow attendees to ask questions, enjoy refreshments and potentially win door prizes.

“My goal is to help clients de-stress and relax so their body can heal itself,” Nagy said in a news release. “I want clients feeling refreshed and rejuvenated at the end of the session.”

Reflexology aims to reduce stress and promote relaxation by applying pressure to areas of the feet, according to Mayo Clinic. Reflexologists believe that portions of the foot correspond to certain organs and areas of the body. Clients will remain clothed, with only feet exposed, during the massage.

Nagy also uses vibrational sound therapy and essential oils in conjunction with reflexology techniques. She will also offer lymphatic drainage services, a technique that relieves swelling, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

According to the press release, Nagy is one of only two state-licensed reflexologists in Bellingham. Additional details can be found at the business’s website or by calling Serene Footfalls at 360-303-7681.
